Liberty Science CenterA promenade in Brooklyn's oldest neighborhood offering breathtaking vistas on the East RiverLocated in the heart of Liberty State Park in Jersey City, Liberty Science Center provides exciting, world class experiences for the entire family. Focused on interactivity, the Center explores global environmental issues as well as more local scientific wonders. Liberty Science Center has something for everyone. Children ages 2 to 7 have the run of the I Explore exhibit, where they can see what lives beneath city sidewalks and or make music using the Rock Xylophone. Additionally, families can visit installations to try their hand at graffiti and sign language, explore six aquaria, some as large as 7,000 gallons and even operate an underwater robotic vehicle to get a closer view of Hudson River critters. Other exhibits explore germs, predators and more. Reopened in 2007 after two years of renovations, Liberty Science Center is housed in a state-of-the-art green building which produces a quarter of its own energy from solar and wind sources. This environmentally conscious outlook extends to a portion of the Center's exhibits which examine available energy sources and the innovations in progress to develop new ones. |
