James J. Devine

Jim Devine is the President and CEO of Global Container Terminals USA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Global Container Terminals Inc. located in Vancouver, British Colombia. Mr. Devine is responsible for the operation as well as the modernization and expansion of both New York Container Terminal, located on Staten Island, and Global Container Terminal, located in Bayonne, New Jersey. Together these two facilities currently handle 25% of the container traffic in the Greater New York Harbor.

From December 1999 to October 2001, Mr. Devine worked as Senior Vice President for Operations, at CMA CGM America, Inc. the French container line. He was responsible for operations throughout North America including the oversight of all vessel operations, equipment control and intermodal transport. From 1973 to 1999, Mr. Devine held a variety of positions, including Vice President, at Sea Land Service.

From 1969 to 1973, Mr. Devine served as a US Army Transportation Corps officer. After leaving active service, he remained in the U.S. Army Reserve and served an additional 20 years before retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

Mr. Devine has a BS in marine biology from the University of Massachusetts and is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Mr. Devine has two children, Adam and Amanda, with his longtime wife Patricia. He is a past director of Meals on Wheels of Staten Island, New York, Board Member of South Street Seaport Museum in New York, a member of the fund raising committee for the Staten Island University Hospital, a Director of New York City Boy Scout Council and Chairman of the Noble Museum, Staten Island.
